At Tide Shift Justice Project (TSJP), we believe public safety must be rooted in accountability, transparency, and community trust. For too long, policing in Delaware has operated without sufficient oversight, leading to practices that harm rather than protect our communities.

Our police reform work focuses on:

  • Accountability and Oversight – Advocating for stronger systems that hold law enforcement officers and agencies responsible for misconduct.

  • Transparency – Pushing for public access to police disciplinary records and data, ensuring communities know how policing affects them.

  • Community-Centered Safety – Redirecting resources toward services that reduce harm—such as mental health care, substance use treatment, and housing—so policing is not the default response to every social issue.

Through research, coalition-building, and policy advocacy, TSJP is working to shrink the footprint of policing in Delaware while promoting approaches to safety that truly serve the public good.
